London - 30th August

Monday, 31 August 2015

When the National Portrait Gallery announced that they would be holding an exhibition dedicated to Audrey Hepburn there was no question of whether I would be going or not. I went along to the exhibition 'Audrey Hepburn: Portraits of an Icon' yesterday with my younger sister.

The exhibition itself featured up to 70 pictures of Audrey from her early years in Gigi to her role as a UNICEF  Goodwill Ambassador. All pictures captured Audrey as a fashion icon, actress, wife and friend which really helped portray her as that recognisable star we all know and love. The exhibition also included an array of vintage magazine covers, again showing her early years and later career. Although I absolutely loved every last little detail of the exhibition, the piece I adored more than ever were a pair of ballet slippers worn by Audrey Hepburn herself. As ridiculous as it sounds it made me rather emotional, as this was as close as I would ever get to Audrey. They were the softest shade of pale pink and showed signs of heavy wear. They were breathtaking.

I adored the way in which the gallery and Audrey's son Luca Dotti selected and presented each of the photos as they included classic and rarely seen pictures of the star. It wasn't just an exhibition full of movie stills.

After the leaving the gallery there was no way I was leaving London without having a stroll along Oxford Street...

I will admit I really do hate shopping in London due to it always being busy and slightly overwhelming so I will avoid visiting most shops. However I will always pay a visit to my favourite store on the street. SELFRIDGES. There is something about the proudness and luxury surrounding the store that I am just in love with. Many would think this department store is solely for those with money, but it caters to all walks of life by including high street stores such as Topshop and Primark. Since my first visit to the store I have always been attracted to the Christian Louboutin and Chanel shoe departments. Going in and trying shoes but leaving empty handed and quite emotional. Although that has changed, as mentioned in a previous post I did purchase my first pair of Christian Louboutins in Selfridges.

That day I was not going in for anything in particular, I just wished to show my sister the other love in my life and have a nosey at the makeup counters. Charlotte Tilbury, MAC and Nars were all high on my hit list. I made a purchase at each of the beauty counters but I will be doing a post in the next week or so on my recent beauty haul.

Towards the end of the day myself and my sister took a very long stroll along Bond Street and found ourselves outside Tiffany's where I asked my sister to take an extremely Audrey-eque photo. I won't lie I have always wanted someone to do this for me...

Thank you for reading - I have a fair few posts coming soon including beauty hauls and skincare routines featuring Lush Cosmetics.

See you soon!!
