I hold my hands up and admit I am not a morning person. My alarm has to be set at least 3 times to ensure I am actually out of bed and on my way on time. Mornings are frosty, evenings are dark and we are all awaiting the return of those long summer days. Believe it or not, seasons and change in weather has a huge impact on the way I begin my mornings, so I thought it would be fun to share how my beauty routine works for me.
The effects in weather change are visible in one place, my skin! It has become dry and dull and quite frankly I am unable to work with it at the moment, so of course I have been scouring beauty counters for those cult skincare products. The first product to meet my skin was the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion. I was sceptical when first trying the product as it did feel heavy on my skin, however after a good five minutes my skin has absorbed the moisture, leaving a plump healthy glow. I had high hopes for this product, opting for the smaller 50ml bottle which is priced at £18 a pop, applying the product reassured me as a little really goes a long way and the results are instant.
Preventing chapped, dry lips before applying lipstick is a must for any female and for as long as I can remember I have always been using Vaseline. This really does not do a lot for my lips other than acting as a barrier between my lips and other products I apply. However, I have found a new holy grail item, Carmex. Sounds ridiculous but I honestly could not be without this little tube of goodness. Carmex promises to restore your skins natural moisture and acts as pain relief with ingredients such as menthol. This has become that much of a ride or die balm for me I asked my boyfriend to buy me a shed load for my stocking last christmas.
Rise and shine, isn't a phrase that comes naturally to me, its usually followed by a lot of concealer and a sweep of highlighter. Makeup of course plays a huge role in making myself appear 'normal' most mornings and is often referred to as 'putting my face on' and the right foundation can either make or break your look. I switch up foundations all the time depending on my skin, but my favourite at the moment for giving me that fresh dewy look is Chanel's Perfection Lumiere, mixed with the Nars Illuminator in Orgasm. The perfect base is everything.
This may not have been the most in depth routine, but for me these are just the essentials. I would love to know how you all start your day by leaving your comments below.
