Diane von Furstenberg - FORTUNA SS16

Monday 14 September 2015

Bouncy curls, vibrant blue eyes and an array of bright frocks. Another phenomenal collection from Diane von Furstenberg - I am in awe of. Karlie Kloss kicked off the show in a vivacious pink dress covered in small flowers, resembling print on scarves. Karlie wasn't the only star to feature in the show, the like of Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Lily Aldridge and Jourdan Dunn also graced the runway.

The whole collection was a mix. 70's-esque prints and pieces, white grecian dresses trimmed with leopard print and gossamer metallic dresses. The collection itself being DVF's spin on the new woman - "My message, as always, is to be the women you want to be." - Diane wishes to celebrate women with this collection and she has done exactly that by making these women to be free-spirtied and enjoy fashion. Goddess herself Kendall Jenner blew me away in DVF's sheer white playsuit lined with gold, with intricate embelished butterflies - the looks also being finished with bohemian accessories such as fringe tanned shoulder bags. The collection really is a dream for Spring/Summer!

'I love women at the beginning of their life. This collection is about celebration of woman, beauty, freedom and nature' - Diane Von Furstenberg

Diane indicated an old painting she purchased was also was an inspiration for the collection. She wished to look at its longevity and translate that into her clothing by constantly reinventing new patterns, pieces and the DVF house itself. This painting was of goddess Fortuna, which is also where the name of the collection comes from - she symbolises luck being the goddess of fate. This is also where Diane grasped the idea of celebrating women and their freedom.

Diane just gets more powerful in the fashion industry with her reality show The House of DVF back on our screens. Theres just no stopping her! The legend herself, now 68 thankfully shows no sign of retiring.

I am now going to move onto the DVF online store for a quick browse... I have my eye on soooo many of the wrap dresses!!
